Deb Talan of The Weepies is at #1, 2 and 9 this month! Deb doesn’t just have a gorgeously miraculous and unmistakable voice. She is also among my very favorite lyricists. Her lyrics have a natural, conversational feel yet are still perfectly married to the song’s melody and rhythm with wonderful rhymes and interesting metaphors. In “Unraveling” (no. 2), the narrator is a “river of tangled string” which is “unraveling” while “the truth is under your sole, like a pebble, it makes you limp and sway, but it will out someday”. Go to the “Discography” section of The Weepies’ website to see where you can buy all of their albums.
San Diego artists are very well represented this month! Nathan Welden (soon to be the Featured Artist at Acoustic Pie ~ stay tuned and please check out his new album at CD Baby) at no. 13, Berkley Hart at no. 17 and Calman Hart (um, yes, of the duo Berkley Hart) at no. 20.
Thanks for voting, thanks for listening!
